Leftist organizations protest at DC office

Barnala: Manrega workers have been outraged over the caste-based list of Maganrega workers issued by the Union Government's Rural Development Department by issuing an advisory to the state governments. Therefore, the district workers today staged a protest at the DC office, headed by Lal Singh Dhanola, State General Secretary, All India Workers Union, and Jugraj Rama, President, Bhartiya Khet Mazdoor Sabha. Union leaders advised the Union Minister for Rural Development and Farmers Welfare Narendra Tomar to withdraw the advisory immediately. The spokespersons said that the Union Ministry in its advisory letter No. G / 3101/13/2020 / RO (V) / 371606 has sought lists from the states based on SC, BC, and other categories of Maganrega workers.

The leaders termed this central exercise as unconstitutional and a reprehensible act of racism/communalism. Mr. Khushia Singh, Secretary of the House said that already Modi government has shown its anti-poor / anti-labor image by violating 44 pro-labor laws and implementing 4 pro-capitalist labor codes.  The right to raise one's voice is also being denied. The leaders also demanded the cancellation of the controversial advisory and the robust implementation of the Maganrega scheme. During the protest, in-situ state leaders Sher Singh Farwahi, Jagga Singh Dhanola, Siri Ram, Nachhatar Singh Ghunnas, Harnek Singh Cheema, Jamal Khan, Kala Harigarh, Bibi Harpal Kaur, Man Singh Gurm, Pritam Sehajda, Maghar Singh Chapa, Chhota Singh Dhanola, Harnek Singh, Sevak Singh, and other leaders also attended.
