DAV University holds a webinar-cum-workshop on “NAAC Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions”

JALANDHAR: Under the guidance and mentorship of eminent educationist Prof Dr. R. C. Sobti (Padma Shri Awardee), the Internal Quality Assessment Cell of DAV University organized a webinar-cum-workshop on “NAAC Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions” on 4th August 2021. Dr. Sobti chaired the webinar-cum-workshop and laid emphasis on quality and inclusive education. He insisted on the significance of education in the sustainable development of any society. 

Dr. V. S. Chauhan (Former Chairperson NAAC) gave the inaugural address. Dr. K. Rama (Adviser, NAAC), Dr. Priya N. (Assistant Adviser, NAAC) and Dr. Shyam Singh Inda (Assistant Adviser, NAAC) were expert speakers. Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jasbir Rishi; Registrar, Dr. K. N. Kaul and Dean Academics Dr. R. K. Seth welcomed all the dignitaries.

Dr. V. S. Chauhan elaborated on the changing scenario of the education system in India. He said that the NAAC has been set up to help all participating institutions assess their performance vis-a-vis set parameters. He added that NAAC helps the institution to know its strengths, weaknesses and opportunities through an informed review process, and the core idea of NAAC is to improve the quality of higher education in India.

Dr. K. Rama, an adviser to NAAC, said that institutions should focus on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the professional development of their faculty, and job-oriented and skill-based curriculum that caters to our socio-economic needs.

Dr. Priya N., an Assistant Adviser to NAAC, shared dos and don’ts in the process of NAAC accreditation. She gave an illustrious PPT and won accolades for her crisp and knowledgeable presentation. She said that the entire process of accreditation is transparent and quality-centric. NAAC accreditation is rather a social accreditation.

Dr. Shyam Singh Inda said that NAAC Accreditation and Quality Assurance have an important role in enhancing the quality of education in India. He asserted that Universities should maintain records of the work done by them in a systematic manner. He also spoke about different best practices in education.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Jasbir Rishi read the vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude to the guests for their precious time, support and guidance. She congratulated the IQAC team for their strenuous efforts in organizing the webinar-cum-workshop. The occasion was graced by Dr. J. Kackaria (Director, DAVCMC), who appreciated the university’s commitment to quality education.

Dr. Punam Suri (Chancellor, DAV University) sent his best wishes to the university and said that he was pleased to know that the university would apply for NAAC accreditation soon. He added that the university is committed to providing its students with the best possible learning environment and highest possible standards of support and guidance.

 About 200 faculty members of the university attended this webinar-cum-workshop.
