Back in the home state, what could be seen as a snub of the protests by the Punjab government, Moga police have booked 17 persons by name under the stringent provision of IPC including attempted murder and others.

“We tried to convince them that you can protest peacefully but you can not stop the rally by holding the law into your hands. But they insisted on it that they all must reach the venue of the rally to stop it at every cost,” reads the complaint by Inspector Tarlochan Singh.

“The political party is trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere by  holding rallies even 6 months before polls,” say farmers.

Moga police booked 17 farmers/farm leader for allegedly to disrupt the rally by SAD Supremo for attempted to murder and other sections of IPC.

MOGA: The Moga police have registered a case against the alleged farm leaders on the complaint of INspector Tarlochan Singh, incharge  CIA BaghaPurana who has complained to the police that nearly 250 to 300 farmers riding on tractor trolleys and other vehicles tried to ride over the police personnel when they were stopped from proceeding to the rally being held by the SAD Supremo Sukhbir Singh Badal in grain market Moga.

The police inspector said that the farmers had first blocked the national highway NH 95 near the bridge of a Rajbaha, but then lifted the blockade and proceeded towards the venue of the rally.

But, he has alleged that the police tried to convince them not proceeding to the venue of the rally saying that they can not go to the venue of the rally being held by the SAD as per the provisions of the law.

“You can hold the protest peacefully but can  not take the law into your hands. But after speaking to them and trying to convince them, they did not desist from breaking the law to reach the venue of the rally. Then the protesters led by Chamkaur Singh Rode and his companion Karamjeet Singh Manuke claimed by shouting slogans that they they have got a phone call of their president of Nirbhay Singh Dhudike and they are not going to let the rally hold by SAD at any cost.If any policeman tries to stop them, he should be driven under the tractor-trolley. This way, they attacked the police personnel in which the police officials got injured and later on, the protesters were made to run away with great difficulty from the scene by more force,” reads the complaint of the police registered on the statement of inspector Tarlochan Singh.

The police have booked Chamkaur Singh Rode,Karamjeet Singh,Kali Singh, Nirmal Singh, Balkar Singh,Baldev Singh Mohan Lal Singh,Jasmail Singh Tehal Singh, Palwinder Singh, Tehal Singh, Rajdeep Singh,Mandeep Singh, Dalbir Singh,Resham Singh, Lakhvir Singh, Nirbhai Singh under section 307,332,333,353,186,148,149,120B of IPC and National Highway act 8 B, prevention of damage to public property act 1984, section 3,prevention of damage to public property act 1984 section 4.

The social media is all abuzz that some vested interest people want to poison the peaceful atmosphere of the state and are trying to corner the farmers by creating a panic among them to avoid any protests because of the fear of the backlash.

It is further alleged that the farm issues are being marginalized by the politicians by creating a divisive atmosphere among the masses.
