Why Bhagwant may not be a CM face:Arvind Kejriwal’s Bhagwant Mann phobia and feeling of insecurity may drown his aspirations in Punjab

Kejriwal also may not have forgotten about his resignation from the post of the convener of the party out of protest when he tendered unconditional apology to Bikram Singh Majathia over a drug case.

FARIDKOT: When it comes to announcing the CM face of AAP in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann is of course not the first approach of Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi CM and National Convener of AAP.

As for as AAP has some existence in Punjab, its main credit goes to the diligent work of Mann, who is a star campaigner and crowd puller in party. Against Mann’s political height, almost all the others look dwarfs.

Arvind Kejriwal has been running the party with a dictatorial attitude and wants to have all kinds of strings of the party in his hands only, making it more centralized and undemocratic.

Mann is the only second-time MP of AAP who took up the issues of the state in Parliament asserting his presence very nicely. He first won MP elections with a margin of 211000 votes in 2014 and again 111000 when all the circumstances were against the party.

He lost Jalalabad in 2017, which is the bastion of Sukhbir Singh Badal with only 17000 votes, which is not a very big margin when the SAD and congress, all resourceful, were allegedly fighting elections with some political understanding.

Maybe, Kejriwal is phobia-tic of Mann seeing his popular graph in the hearts of People of Punjab lest Mann may not dance at his tunes later on. The Delhi CM may be feeling insecure too in the presence of Mann as CM's face.

The insecurity and dictatorial attitude of Kejriwal may be seen from the fact that he had made all the popular faces and taller leaders quit AAP since its formation so that there could be no challenge to his post from within.

If Kejriwal thinks that all the doors are shut for Mann right now, then the chances of winning elections in 2022 to form government by AAP are not only bleak but almost impossible. The party still has no grass-root level cadre and it may get votes only out of a wave of rejection of SAD and Congress which have stronger basic cadres, seasoned politicians, and resources.

A windfall for party is yet away.

Winning about 60 seats are not very easy for AAP in 2022 as it trailed poor second in 2017 when there was a wave in its favour.

If Kejriwal runs the party with puppets in Punjab via Delhi, he will lose all chances of its expansion in the full-fledged state.

He himself will not be acceptable to the people of Punjab as CM too as Punjab has always a Sikh CM rivals call AAP"Topian Wale".(outsiders)

Besides it, if Kejriwal puts his stake at any farm leader, forget that all the farmers will support him, be Balbir Singh Rajewal or someone else. People’s support to farm leaders is limited to the protests about farm laws and farming related issues. In politics, they will be left alone to fend themselves.I don't expect that seasoned farmer leaders will fall into any such political trap. It will be a suicidal step to the farm agitation and their leaders too.

Over enthused and inspirational Kejriwal must walk carefully or the history of 2017  would repeat for the party.

Another issue of drinking haunts Mann. If the government sells liquor vends worth Rs 5500 crore, do the people think that any other politician and bureaucrats do not drink at all or don't take any drugs. If Mann drinks and goes to public, then it is worse and rejection of his out-rightly, but nobody should peep into anybody’s personal life.

There is a deliberate media campaign against him on the issue of drinking which many others throw lavish parties.

It is the common perception of the people that others too have many weaknesses in their personal life, but we should respect anybody's personal life.
