Thousands villagers bade tearful farewell to martyr Subedar Jaswinder Singh killed in terrorist attack in Poonch

Mana Talwandi(Kapurthala) Oct.13 ; Thousands of villagers today bade a tearful farewell to Naib Subedar Jaswinder Singh who was killed in a terrorists attack in Poonch district.

It was a heart-rending scene when an eleven-year-old daughter salute the body of his father before the cremation.

His pyre was lit today by his 13-year-old son Vikramjit Singh with tears rolling down his face and he pledged to join the Indian army to take avenge of his father from the militants.The last rites were performed with military traditions.

More than 50 youths of the village in a cavalcade of motorcycles chanting slogans like Jaswinder Singh “Amar Rahe” led the funeral procession.

The body of Jaswinder Singh reached his native village Mana Talwandi in a flower-decorated army vehicle in the morning and it was heart-rending scenes in the house when the family members broke down on seeing the body of martyr Jaswinder Singh. The family members were inconsolable as they cried on seeing the body.

Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal laid a wreath on behalf of Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla. Punjab Minister Rana Gurjit Singh laid a wreath on behalf of Chief Minister Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi, SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh laid a wreath on behalf of Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, District Sainik welfare officer Col .Dalwinder Singh laid a wreath on behalf of Dy. Chief Minister O.P.Soni, Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, and SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur also laid wreaths.

Punjab Minister Rana Gurjit Singh expressed grief with the family of deceased Jaswinder Singh and said that Punjab Government would give ex-gratia grant of rupees 50 lakhs and a government job to one family member
