Our aim is not only to employ the youth but to make them job creators too

Punjab’s youth turned to foreign countries due to lack of employment and quality higher education here; for Punjab’s progress this migration must stop

Congress promised jobs to every household, but didn’t look beyond nepotism

Said, AAP government will provide youth of Punjab with proper employment and startup opportunities here

CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and MP Bhagwant Mann said that unemployment is the biggest obstacle in the development of Punjab. Addressing the media on Sunday, Mann said that earlier, young people used to do direct jobs or their own business after getting their degrees from colleges and universities. But, today due to lack of employment young people are falling victims to depression and drugs. Both money and talented people of Punjab are moving abroad because of the incompetent governments. For the all-around progress of Punjab, it is most important to stop such migration and this drain of talent and energy.

Criticizing the Congress, Mann said that in the last elections, Congress promised to give employment in every household of Punjab, but after the formation of their government, instead of giving jobs to unemployed youth with degrees, Congress started giving jobs to the children and families of their MLAs, ministers, and leaders. Mann added that it was due to lack of employment only, that the youth of Punjab were forced to leave their homeland and move abroad.

Mann said that the heroes of Punjab like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru Sukhdev and Kartar Singh Sarabha fought for freedom and sacrificed their lives to drive the Britishers out of the country. Today their heirs are going to sell their mother's jewelry and father's property to go to work under the same British people. The incompetence of previous governments of Punjab has made our youth suffer and it’s like our heroes sacrificed in vain.

Mann said that on the buses parked at Jalandhar bus stand, seeing the banners of the IELTS Coaching centers and agents, one would think that these buses are going to Canada and New Zealand, not Amritsar-Chandigarh. Canada has now become Punjab due to excessive migration. Today, there are more Punjabi MPs in Canada than Punjab. But all of them have gone there under compulsion. No one is fond of going away from his motherland and family. Lakhs of Punjabis were forced to leave Punjab due to unemployment and lack of security here.

Mann promised that the Aam Aadmi Party government would stop this migration of Punjab’s money and talent. “We will provide ample employment and business opportunities in Punjab. Employment and salary according to the qualification, new opportunities to the talented youth for their start-ups, so that they can create employment to other people along with them. Our aim is not only to provide people with employment but also to make them capable of creating employment opportunities,” said Mann.
