81 flying squad teams working 24x7 in nine constituencies with 27 in GPS & camera fitted vehicles
PTZ camera can be operated from DC office & with changed angles
JALANDHAR: To keep a close eye on the unauthorised activities in all nine assembly constituencies, the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday reviewed the functioning of the GPS enabled & 360 degree camera fitted vehicles, which are taking round 24X7 in all segments.
With total 81 flying squad teams nine in each constituency including three each having GPS and camera fitted atop the vehicle are checking whether the political parties/candidates indulging in any electoral malpractice by violating model code of conduct.
While taking stock of the working of these vehicles in his office, the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that these vehicles are being monitored at district level control level by election cell through real time feeds. He said that presently 27 vehicles are on road with surveillance teams in three shifts to keep a close tab on political activities.
Each vehicle has three personnel including one operator, one police man and a driver, who will keep the vehicle moving in their respective given areas, said the Deputy Commissioner adding that none would be spared if found indulged in the violation of MCC and necessary action is initiated as per the ECI guidelines.
These vehicles having Pan Tilt Zoom cameras are capturing activities in the different constituencies and report the same if against the guidelines. The cameras can also be operated from the DC office besides angles can also be changed. The officials deployed in these vehicles are in constant touch with the office of concerned Returning Officers so that the any activities could be reported within minimal time, said the DC adding that these would remain in operation till the completion of voting process in the district.
