holds virtual awareness campaign under sveep, 2000 school and college students take part
Nawanshahr- The district administration on Tuesday gave clarion call to students to strengthen democracy by voting enthusiastically on polling day (February 20) in these assembly elections.
In a district level virtual awareness event organized under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral
Participation (SVEEP) program, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Vishesh Sarangal said that by exercising their right of franchise, the young voters can play a key role in the socio-economic growth of the country. He said that each student must pledge that they would cast their votes on polling day.
He said that main aim of organizing such event is to ensure that students must carry back the message of vote’s importance in their families and convey it to their parents, peers and others to vote surely on polling day.
Sarangal called upon the students to vote enthusiastically for securing the future of coming generations.
As many as 3000 students of 211 schools and 23 colleges took part in this virtual campaign and pasted posters of pledge to vote in these elections outside their homes.
It is pertinent to mention here to SBS Nagar district is leading state in Punjab which has registered maximum young voters in the district in the age group of 18-19.
