Chandigarh/ Abohar: Former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and party Campaign Committee chief for forthcoming polls Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday stated that in the face of imminent defeat the SAD, BJP and AAP have orchestrated an unholy alliance.
The views were expressed by Jakhar while reacting to Punjab Governor issuing inquiry against Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, which the veteran Congress leader termed as a result of this unholy political fixing between these parties to tarnish Congress ahead of February 20 elections.
Terming the develoment as unfortunate in a democracy, Jakhar while interacting with party workers at Maujgarh village at a meeting organised by Congress Youth leader Atinderpal Singh Tinna said that there can be no double standard against politicians fighting elections.
While on one hand, the apex Court in Majithia's case is saying that any action in the matter be fit only after elections and on the other hand Governor, on the pretext of opposition leaders' request, is ordering inquiry against a Chief Minister, he said.
On being not able to be present during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's visit because of mandatory week isolation after his return from abroad, Jakhar said he is fully geared up for ensuing elections which are crucial for Punjab's sustainable future.
Congress party has taken several pathbreaking initiatives for holistic welfare of the SC & ST communities, farmers, city residents, labourers, he said underlining that people of the state will once again overwhelmingly vote for Congress on February 20 and all opposition will face a complete rout. The way in which Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has taken steps to fulfil all pending promises has left the opposition blanked and they are resorting to making an empty noise in a bid to criticise Congress.
To negate the reality of water and electricity bill waiver, SAD BJP and AAP have done everything but people did not believe them. It is evident that people of Punjab who have reaped the benefits of these welfare schemes will once again choose Congress, Jakhar added.
