Chaudhary was accompanied by Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary and Congress leader Amritpal Bhosle
PHILLAUR: Indian National Congress candidate from Phillaur assembly constituency Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary filed his nomination papers before the returning officer here on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by his father, Jalandhar Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary, Congress leader Amritpal Bhosle, mother Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, wife Shveta Raj Chaudhary, daughter Sukhmani and hundreds of supporters.
The Congress party had announced Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary’s name in the first list of candidates released on January 15.
Addressing media persons after filing the papers at the office of the Phillaur SDM, Vikramjit Chaudhary said that he was thankful to the Congress party leadership, his family, friends and constituents for their immense support. “The campaign for the assembly election is already in full swing. We would take everyone together and win the seat for Sonia Gandhi Ji and Congress party,” Vikramjit said.
MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary said that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s government has performed exceedingly well, and Congress will return to power thanks to their outstanding track record.
Former Bahujan Samaj Party leader Amritpal Bhosle, who had joined Congress in the presence of CM Channi last December after exiting BSP, also endorsed Vikramjit Chaudhary. He stated that the Congress party had done in Punjab what had not happened in the last 74 years.
“Congress party has done in Punjab what was not done in the last 74 years. Everyone in the state wants to see Channi ji becoming Chief Minister again. All of us will send Vikramjit Chaudhary to Punjab Vidhan Sabha with a massive win and strengthen the hands of Channi ji,” Bhosle said.
