SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed his disappointment over the Karnataka High Court's decision to uphold the hijab verdict.
He tweeted, "Whatever your opinion about the hijab, it is not a matter of clothing, it is a question of a woman's right to choose her own outfit or not. This basic right has not been protected, it is a great irony."
BJP MP and actress Hema Malini has said that there is no need to ban hijab in other institutions or place of work but dress code should be followed in schools.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has asked in the assembly that how can the government decide who will wear what? He asked why there is controversy over hijab, why are we creating so much excitement in the atmosphere?
