JAMMU & KASHMIR: The Sessions Court in Srinagar has started hearing a fresh petition filed by family members in connection with the murder of Kashmiri Pandit Satish Tikku 31 years ago. The petition also sought the status report of the FIR against the accused Bitta Karate.
While hearing on Wednesday, the court reprimanded the government of Jammu and Kashmir. Utsav Bains, counsel for Satish Tikku's family members, told reporters that the court has asked the government why the chargesheet has not yet been filed against Bitta Karate, an accused in the case. Utsav Bains told that the court hearing is a ray of hope for the family members. He told that the next hearing will be held on April 16.
The real name of Bitta Karate is Farooq Ahmed Dar. Bitta Karate is accused of killing many Kashmiri Pandits including Satish Tikku. After the release of Vivek Agnihotri's film The Kashmir Files, once again the name of Bitta Karate has come into the limelight. Bitta Karate was also arrested several times, but every time he got bail due to lack of evidence.
