'We have to pay the price to stay here in 1990', says Kashmiri Pandit
Kashmiri Pandit said - now it is difficult for us to stay here
JAMMU AND KASHMIR: Discussions are going on across the country for a few days regarding the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, but the atmosphere in the valley seems to be on the contrary. There have been incidents of shooting of four migrant laborers and a Kashmiri Pandit in the last 4 days. Due to this, once again an atmosphere of fear is being seen among the minority communities in Kashmir.
According to the Sources, the recent incidents have been purely to spread panic so that the migrant people flee from there. While, efforts for the return of Kashmiri Pandits could be weakened.
Terrorists had shot 4 bullets on the chest of Kashmiri Pandit Bal Krishna, a resident of Shopian. Apart from this, another person was shot in the lower part of the stomach.
A senior security official said, “Terrorists are now firing bullets at the feet of the migrants. Their best effort is to scare people so that they flee. Earlier last year, he was taking lives of people and there was sharp criticism for this. In such a situation, now they have developed a new pattern so that people can be intimidated and people flee from Kashmir.
Anil Kumar Bhat, brother of Bal Krishna, who was attacked by terrorists, said that our father had decided to stay in Kashmir and there is a price to be paid. Bhat said, “We are facing the consequences of a wrong decision. If we had left the country in 1990 itself, then we would have got good jobs and also benefited from the schemes of the government. Not only this, he said that once his brother Bal Krishna is discharged from the hospital, then he will consider his decision to stay in Kashmir. He said that in such an environment we will not be able to open shops. It will be difficult for us to do business.
At present, the police is under guard in Chottigam village of Shopian. Police protection has been provided to two families of Kashmiri Pandits. Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar said that the security forces have also started night patrolling. Security has been increased especially in such areas, where there is a high number of migrant laborers. However, even after this security, Anil Bhat says that the police can protect our homes, but not our lives. He said that if we want to stay here, then we have to go to the market, the hospital and our apple orchards. After all, how can we take policemen to all these places. Not only this, he said that the situation has become like 1990, when there was a large-scale exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.
