The arrival of wheat picks the pace - reaches more than 30000 MT on a daily basis
Kapurthala: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today said that for the first time the wheat arrived in 62 grain markets in Kapurthala has been procured 100 % besides the lifting of procured wheat touches 121 % and payment to farmers to 118 %.
It may be mentioned here that the deputy commissioner who personally monitors the issue while the procurement process, issued orders to procurement agencies, mandi board, and food supply officials to ensure timely payment and lifting in view of the enhanced arrival of wheat.
He said that for the first time the simultaneous procurement of 110172 metric tonnes of wheat has been ensured with the purchase of more than 30 thousand MT on a daily basis so that the farmers do not have to sit in the mandis.
It may be recalled that the one day arrival of wheat yesterday reached 30602 MT, which is being procured simultaneously.
Out of the total wheat procured so far, Markfed procured 25 % PUNSUP 20 % PUNGRAIN 18 % Punjab State Warehouse Corporation 15 % and FCI while the private buyers have procured 9 % each.
lifting work has also been expedited due to the accelerated arrival of wheat, under which 37082 metric tonnes of wheat has been lifted against the 30467 MT within the stipulated 72 hours which is 121.71 % of the target, he added.
District Kapurthala also excelled in the payment of wheat procured to the farmers, under which Rs. 111.26 crores has been paid to the farmers by the procurement agencies till yesterday against the 93 crores under the prescribed time frame of 48 hours after procurement of crop. It becomes 118 % against the fixed target of payment to the farmers.
It may be recalled that during the last season till April 16, 79388 metric tonnes of wheat were procured whereas this time till April 16, 110172 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured.
