Budgam: Militants Thursday barged into a government office in central Kashmir’s Budgam district and fatally shot a Kashmiri Pandit employee. After the killing of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt in Budgam on Thursday night, there is a lot of anger among the people of the valley.
People have been protesting vigorously since last night against the murder of Rahul. Kashmiri Pandits demonstrated in Sheikhpura, Budgam against the killing of Chadoora Tehsil office employee Rahul Bhat by terrorists. While protesting, a Kashmiri Pandit Amit said – We should be provided security by the Lieutenant Governor, otherwise we will resign in large numbers.
Police sources said demonstrations were reported from Qazigund, Pulwama, Budgam, Gandebal and Baramulla. The protesters threatened to resign en masse if the killings were not stopped and raised slogans against the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking protection.
However, members of Kashmiri Pandit Employees Association demonstrated in Anantnag demanding justice against the murder of Rahul Pandit in Budgam. Association member Sandeep Bhat said- We have asked the government to rehabilitate us in those places where we can feel safe.
Police fired tear gas shells
Police fired tear gas at protesters marching towards the Airport Road in Budgam to protest against the recent killings of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand, people protested fiercely in front of former Deputy CM Nirmal Singh, who came to meet Rahul Bhatt's family. The people protesting are Kashmiri Hindus who are saying that they do not want job security.
Rahul's father Bittaji Bhatt told that Kashmiri Pandits are being targeted in Kashmir, with moist eyes Rahul's father said that the terrorist had confirmed my son's name before killing him. At that time four people were present there but my son was killed because of the name.
Father Bittaji Bhatt said that Rahul was working since 2010. In the meantime, his posting was also done at two or three places, but never got to hear any kind of debate. He told that people used to like Rahul. He said that I hope that my son will get justice.
