The way BJP is destroying people's houses and shops in Delhi is not right- Arvind Kejriwal
Bulldozers can run on the shops or houses of 63 lakh people.
This will be the biggest destruction of independent India.
NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday targeted the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) over the action to remove illegal constructions in Delhi.
He said that BJP can run bulldozers on the shops or houses of 63 lakh people.
Arvind Kejriwal called it the biggest destruction of independent India.
In a press conference on Monday, Kejriwal said, "For the last few weeks, bulldozers being run inside Delhi by the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Municipal Corporation in many places in Delhi and being said that bulldozers will be run for the next several months.
"They are saying that we will remove all encroachment from Delhi. We ourselves are also against encroachment. We don't want encroachment, illegal buildings to be built."
He said, "The way Delhi has been built in the last 75 years, more than 80 percent of it comes under illegal or encroachment. The question arises whether 80 percent of Delhi will be broken."
"The second thing is that the way the encroachment is being removed, no one is being given notice in it. They reach any colony with bulldozers and start breaking anyone's house, anyone's shops. The man is begging for mercy with the paper but no one is watching, just a bulldozer is being run."
He said that the way encroachment is being removed, we are against it. Their plan is to destroy all the unoccupied colonies, all the slums. About 60 lakh people live in them. Bulldozers will run on 63 lakh people. This will be the biggest destruction of independent India.
Kejriwal once again demanded the conduct of municipal elections.
