Barnala: A rehabilitation center for drug addicts is being set up at Sohal Patti in the Barnala district.
The information has been shared by Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dr. Harish Nair while addressing a special meeting on rehabilitation today.
He said that the Punjab government is running 7 Oat clinics in the Barnala district for the treatment of drug addicts. These 7 Oat Clinics are being run at District Jail, Health Centers Dhanola, Bhadaur, Mehal Kalan, Channanwal, Tapa, and District Hospital Barnala.
In addition, a rehabilitation center is functioning at Sohal Patti, which is converted into a 90-bed hospital during the Corona epidemic at the Corona Quarantine Center. Now 30 of these beds are being shifted to rehabilitation centers on the proposal of the health department and the remaining 60 beds of the hospital will be maintained. The health department said some equipment is needed to start the rehabilitation center.
He said that the electricity connection and some funds were yet to be released. Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dr. Harish Nair assured us that all the arrangements related to the infrastructure at the Center would be completed soon.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Barnala Amit Banbi, Civil Surgeon Barnala Dr. Jasbir Singh Aulakh, DMC Dr. Gurminder Aulakh, District Social Security Officer Dr. and Avspreet Kaur.
