Barnala: Sikh Education Belgium children Gurjot Singh (Ludhiana), Simranjit Kaur (Belgium), Harveen Kaur (Belgium), Prabhdil Singh and Sarvalin Kaur (Germany), Asleen Kaur, and Diljit Singh (Belgium) presented the concept of Dasvandh very well through his posters. It seemed that the pictures were speaking.
The concept of Dasvand is recorded in Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Anga 1245, in which Guru Sahib is saying that a person who earns by hard work eats and helps others out of that income (by taking out Dasvandh). Only such a person recognizes the right path (intention) in life. Dasvandh means 'tithe' of income to be given as charity for religious activities. According to the principles of Sikhism, it is a part of Sikh ethics.
It is included in Guru Nanak's concept of Vand Chakko. It is an ethic that can bring peace and happiness to the world by uprooting the four enemies of humanity - poverty, unemployment, disease, and illiteracy. Parents pay tithes out of their labor earnings, but how can children pay tithes in their life?
A small effort was made by the children of Sikh Education Belgium on the importance of Dasvandh in the life of children and where they get their Dasvandh. In which the children of Sikh Education Belgium participated with great enthusiasm. Many children made videos on the subject and many expressed their views on Dasvandh through posters. Bless the whole Sangat that the children of Sikh Education Belgium can inspire other children through their message. Sikh Education Belgium is working day and night for the rising art of Sikhism and connecting children with Gurbani and Sikh history which is a very commendable initiative.
