CHANDIGARH: In Punjab, 16 farmer organizations have sat on a dharna on the Mohali-Chandigarh border for their demands. They say that they will not stop the dharna until their demands are met.
According to other demands, farmers demand a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal on wheat.
Commenting on the performance of the farmers, former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has tweeted.
Sidhu has tweeted targeting the Chief Minister of the state, Bhagwant Mann, "CM Bhagwant Mann ji, ask your IT cell to be a little lenient and the more they show down or insult the farmers, the more your reputation will be damaged. . Be a simple and flexible politician and not a stubborn Chief Minister... Invite farmers for talks and resolve this issue."
Taking forward his tweet, Sidhu has written that you are requested not to escalate into a situation of confrontation with the farmers. They constitute 60% of our population and are the backbone of Punjab's economy.
He has written, “The demand of farmers regarding bonus on wheat is absolutely justified. I have been raising this issue since the very beginning."
Along with this tweet, Sidhu has also shared an old video of himself.
On May 17, after the meeting with the Chief Minister of the state was canceled, the angry farmers wanted to go to Chandigarh to protest but the police stopped them at the border. After which the farmers spent the night on the Mohali-Chandigarh border.
