Barnala: The Barnala district unit, Democratic Rights Council along with BKU Ekta Ugrahan has criticized the government's Agnipath scheme and demanded to withdraw the Agniveer recruitment scheme. He calling ‘it a nasty joke with the youngish student.
Gurmel Singh Thuliwal, District President, and Secretary Sohan Singh Majhi, said that the implementation of the scheme would have a detrimental effect on the efficiency of the Army.
“Youth people recruited on a contract basis will be the victims of uncertainty. Their training will not be of the required level”, he added. Opposition leaders express concern Agneepath scheme and said, “Center Government had shattered millions dreams of youth, who had been preparing for recruitment above three years”.
“Now salt being sprinkled on his wounds of Youth, for talking of security guard in front of BJP offices and becoming a driver, tailor, barber, etc. The villagers demanding regular recruitment on the old lines”, added.
Similarly, BKU Ekta Ugrahan held a meeting at Tarksheel Bhawan and strongly condemned the decision and demanded immediate reversal.
State leader of the organization, Roop Singh Channa along with district president Chamkaur Singh Nainewal said that the district unit had organized a large gathering at Dana Mandi on June 24 and marched through the city and handed over a memorandum to the President / Prime Minister by DC, for withdrawal of new scheme.
State leaders Hardeep Singh Talewal, Jarnail Singh Badra, Bhagat Singh Channa, Buckan Singh Saidowal, and Block Leader Balour Singh Channa were present at the meeting.
However, Punjab Revolutionary Center State President Narayan Dutt along with General Secretary Kanwaljit Khanna said that the new 'Agniveer' scheme recruitment by the Union Modi Government for Indian Army would not only ruin the lives of the youth but also pave the way for the recruitment of private forces.
Leaders Mukhtiar Poohla, Jagjit Singh Lehra Mohabbat and Jaswant Jirkh said that the youth also knew that after four years of youth, they would be pushed into the private sector for meager wages or to become the food of a private army. Gurnam Singh, Manjit Raj, Kuldeep Singh, Nachhatar Singh, Malkit Singh, Ujagar Singh Behla, Bikker Singh Aulakh, and Jagroop Singh among others who are members of United Kisan Morcha DC Barnala announced to send a memorandum to the President.
