Barnala: Arrangements have been completed in District Barnala for Lok Sabha by-polls Sangrur constituency to be held tomorrow (June 23). Disclosing this here today District Election Officer Dr. Harish Nair said that polling would take place from 8 am to 6 pm. There are a total of 502127 voters in the three assembly constituencies of the district out of which 265340 are male voters, 236772 are female voters and 15 more voters.
He said that around 2232 polling staff would be deployed at 558 polling stations for tomorrow's polls while around 2450 security personnel would be deployed. The security personnel will include 13 companies from the Central Armed Forces, seven from the State Armed Forces, and about 650 police personnel. Meanwhile, various polling parties today reached the polling stations with election materials.
Polling parties headed by Assistant Returning Officer for Constituency 103 Barnala Gopal Singh left Government Senior Secondary School Sandhu Patti. Sonam Chaudhary, Assistant Returning Officer for Constituency 102 Bhadaur, left the Tehsil Complex Tapa. Polling parties for constituency 104 Mahil Kalan led by Assistant Returning Officer Amit Bambi left Dr. Raghubir Prakash SD Senior Secondary School.
Dry day declared
District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr. Harish Nair informed that within the territory of District Barnala from 6 pm on 21st June 2022 till the completion of elections on 23rd June 2022 and counting day on 26th June 2022 would be declared as Dry Day. Selling any kind of drugs, and storing and selling alcohol are completely banned. This order will also be fully applicable to hotels, restaurants, clubs, and liquor premises where the sale and consumption of liquor are legally permitted.
