NAKODAR The Mehat Pur police have booked a villager on charges of outraging the religious feelings of a resident and criminal intimidation.
The investigating officer (IO) Balwindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Amarit Pal Singh’ the son of Chamkaur Singh a resident of Tandaura village.
Jagir Singh (70) a resident of the same village complained to the police that the accused was knocking aggressively at his house door on June 20 and when he opened it the accused assaulted him and removed his head cover, pulled his hair and beard damaged a religious sign worn by him and threatened him with dire consequences.
IO said a case under sections 295(destroying, damaging, or defiling a place of worship or sacred object with intent to insult the religion of any class of persons.) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigation is on.
