Two Shahkot NP employees booked for fraud

SHAHKOT The Shahkot police have booked two employees of the Shahkot Nagar Panchayat (NP) for fraud.

The investigating officer (IO) Lakhvir Singh said that the accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar son of Tarsem Lal a resident of Rishi Nagar ward no.4 and working as a sweeper in Shahkot NP and Manprit Singh son of Resham Singh a resident of Kotli Gajran village and working as a sweeper on contract in Shahkot NP.

Manoj Arora a resident of Rishi Nagar Shahkot has lodged a complaint on the Anti-Corruption Action Line WhatsApp number alleging that NP employees are collecting money from street vendors and hawkers by using doubtful G-8 receipt books and demanded a high-level inquiry.

The concerned authority forwarded the complaint to SSP vigilance Jalandhar who deputed an inspector for investigating it.

Inspector Mandip Singh said in his report that receipts books are fake, and the accused confessed their crime and named a counselor who allegedly instigated them for a dirty job.

 The Deputy superintendent of police (vigilance) sent this report to the district attorney who recommended a case against the accused and Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police ordered the registration of a case.

IO said a case under sections 466(forgery of public register etc.) 468,471(fraud) and 484(counterfeiting a mark used by public servant) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
