Dc announces to embark special campaign to reverse declining csr

JALANDHAR:In a bid to create awareness amongst the people to reverse the
declining trend in the Child Sex Ratio (CSR), the Deputy Commissioner
Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today announced to embark a Mass
Communication Campaign and Multi-sectoral action under Beti Bachao,
Beti Padhao scheme.

Chairing a meeting of District Task Force of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao
scheme here at District Administrative complex, the Deputy
Commissioner said that the objective of the scheme was to improve the
CSR of the Jalandhar district by 10 points from current 913 (2016) and
to achieve the 100 percent enrolment of girls in school education. He
said that for it a Mass Communication Campaign and Multi-sectoral
action would be initiated by involving all the stakeholders under the
scheme. Mr. Sharma said that in Mass Communication Campaign Graffiti,
LED boards (Gudi-Gudda Board), Information, Education and
Communication (IEC) activities such as posters, pamphlets, leaflets;
and outreach activities (NukadNataks) would be undertaken to
disseminate the massage to eradicate the social evils such as female
foeticide, dowry and violence against women.

The Deputy Commissioner also gave nod for formation of a committee
under ADC(D) for selection and publication of IEC material with Civil
Surgeon, District Education Officer as members and District Programme
Officer as Convener. He also said that a training and sensitisation
programme would be organised to sensitise the different stakeholders
of the scheme such as frontline workers of flagship programmes/schemes
such as ICDS, NHM, SSA, MGNREGA, etc. and members of PRIs, ULBs, and
women’s SHGs. Sharma also directed the different departments to
extend the full cooperation to achieve the goals of the scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the health department to implement
the PCPNDT Act in stringent manner along with focus in IEC activities.
He also directed to share the data on CSR every month with women and
child development department for effective implementation of BBBP
scheme. Sharma also appealed all educational institutions of the
district to use BBBP logo to spread awareness about scheme.

Amarjeet Singh Bhullar and Assistant Labour Commissioner Sukhjinder
