NAKODAR: Some residents have encroached land of Sewa Kendra constructed at Mohalla Gauns. They have stacked here paddy straw, park tractor trolleys and erected rough thatched shed for the cattle.

Nagar council had transferred its 3 kalans 16 marlas land to the Punjab government.

Kendra coordinator Jaspreet Singh said that encroachments have become the nuisance for them and cattle create problems for staff. He said that he had brought this issue into the notice of concerned officials and urged for the construction of boundary wall.

He said Sewa Kendra processed average 40 applications every month for different services. He said about 80 old age and widow pension applications have been rejected adding that now executive officer‘s report is the must for pension application.Employees said that they do not receive pay regularly.

The then sub-divisional magistrate Kulpreet Singh had said in December month that he had verbally issued directions to encroachers to remove encroachments from Sewa Kendra land immediately adding that if they do not remove encroachments cases against them would be filed under public premises act. Inquiries revealed that no case has been filed to remove encroachments.
