Nakodar: The  Nakodar tehsil is facing  an acute shortage of patwaris, which has created problems for citizens. District president of Revenue Patwar Union  Jaswindar Singh Dhanju said that of the 66 sanctioned posts in the tehsil, 49 posts are vacant.

He said many patwaris have been given additional charge of other revenue circles.  Sources in the revenue department said that the government is proposing to reduce the number of revenue circles in the state. They said that it has sought reports from the field on a number of small revenue circles which could be united into one circle.

Tehsildar Bhupindar Singh said that he had brought the matter to the notice of the officials concerned adding that the government has recruited 122 patwaris who are undergoing training.
