Punjab Roadways initiate Cleanliness and Plantation drive around bus stand

JALANDHAR: The Punjab roadways today initiated a major drive to keep the Bus stand and its surrounding areas clean, green and pollution under the national Swach Bharat campaign. 

Kicking off the campaign the General Manager of Punjab Roadways Parneet Singh Minhas said that the depleting green cover was a cause of concern for everybody as it poses a serious hazard to the environment and human health. He said that campaign was aimed at planting more and more number of trees within the periphery of the Bus stand and in the premises of their offices to enhance the green cover. Parneet Singh said that besides planting these trees major thrust would be laid on proper upkeep of these plants.

Describing this as a social cause, the General Manager said they were fully committed towards enhancing the green cover around the Bus stand of the city.  He said that it was the need of the hour to protect our environment by planting more trees, for which this drive has been initiated. Parneet Singh under the Swach Bharat campaign it was their bounden duty to keep the city clean, green and pollution free. Meanwhile, the officials of roadways also conducted the cleaning of roads leading to bus stand besides planting 100 saplings today.
