ISI Agent arrested in Punjab

BATALA: Batala police claimed to have arrested an agent of Pakistan's  secret agency ISI with the active support of Jammu and Kashmir based army military intelligence unit.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Batala Opinderjit Singh Ghumman identified him as Gian Singh alias Gianbir Singh alias Deol, a resident of Shikar Machhian village under Dera Baba  Nanak police station in Batala police district.He was individual touch with the ISI and passing sensitive military information over Whatsapp to his handlers in Pakistan in lieu of money.

SSP said that Gian Singh was arrested by CIA in charge Lakhwinder Singh following an information was provided by the Jammu and Kashmir police from Nawanshahr and a case under section 3,4,5 and 9 of  Official Secret Act 1923 and 120 B IPC against him and accomplice  Shamsher Singh alias Shera, a resident of Jogi Cheem village under Kahnuwan police station in Gurdaspur police district. Police recovered a mobile phone and two sim cards.

SSP Ghumman claimed that he had revelled that he was touched with Pakistan's ISI agent in Pakistan who had tasked him to provide photos and video of Indian Army and BSF deployment and movement along with Indo Pak border. He was also tasked to cultivate serving Army and BSF personnel and to provide contacts along Indo Pak border including Jammu and Kashmir.

He confessed that he had passed sensitive military information to Pakistan and was demanding money and weapons in return. Apart from providing information, he was also motivated to work for Khalistan Cause.

SSP said that he was introduced to ISI by Shamsher Singh alias shera who was absconding.
