Conference to promote moral education, mother tongue held

During the occasion, a book on moral education was also released.

Gurdaspur: A conference to promote moral education and mother tongue, Punjabi was held at Baba Aya Singh Riarki College Tughalwala, 27-km from here today. Around 2,658 girl students of college attended the conference.

The conference was held under the chairmanship of Ajaib Singh Chattha, chairman of World Punjabi Development Conference.

 

Addressing conference, Ajaib Singh Chattha said that society is known by its mother language, which needs to be given utmost importance.

 

The Punjabi diaspora is contributing a lot to the promotion of not only Punjab language, but rich culture and traditions associated with the state, he asserted.

 

The experts from different fields participated and emphasized the importance of regional languages in the cultural development of the country. They mentioned that all developed countries of Europe have been using regional languages in their education system, so every citizen should contribute to the development of his mother tongue and other local languages as well.

 

Ajaib Singh Chattha said that the responsibility of spreading movement of moral education movement in schools and society in Punjab have been handed over to Simrat Sumera the known Punjabi poetess.

 

Meanwhile throwing light on the importance of the language, college Principal and Life Achievement Award winner, S. Swaran Singh Virk said every student must have knowledge of, at least, three languages. Our college is working relentlessly to promote Punjabi, he asserted.

 

Among others , Ashok Charan , Sardul Singh Thiara from Canada,  Simrat Sumera , Palwinder Kaur Chatha from Canada,  Sukhjinder Kaur , Navdeep Kaur , Principal Gagandeep Singh Virk, Rajendra Jeet Gajlaggo from USA , Satinder Kehlon and Harjit Kaur and Paramjit Kaur also took part in conference.
