Two drug peddlers arrested with 10 quintals poppy husk

SHAHKOT: The Shahkot police have arrested two drug peddlers and booked one on charge of smuggling and selling poppy husk. 

Station house officer (SHO) Parmindar Singh Bajwa said that 1000 kilograms poppy husk packed in 50 bags, loaded in a truck (PB-10-CC-5193) under bags of garlic was recovered from possession of the accused identified as Gurjant Singh and Nachhatar Singh alias Kali a resident of Dalowal village under Fateh Garh Panjtoor police station.

SHO said that the accused used to purchase poppy husk from Madhaya Pardesh at low price and sell contraband in Jalandhar and Ludhiana districts at high prices.  

A case under sections 15/25/29/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and their third accomplice Gurpreet Singh a resident of Kasam Bhatti village in Faridkot.

The Mehatpur police arrested drug peddler Channa Singh a resident of Dharme Dian Channa village with 70 grams intoxicant powder.
