MP Santokh Chaudhary pays tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, announces grant of Rs 3 lakh

JALANDHAR — On the 62nd Mahaparinirvan Diwas, the Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary paid floral tributes to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at Ambedkar Chowk, Jalandhar. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Babasaheb architect of the Constitution of India,  worked for the upliftment of scheduled castes and downtrodden classes. He fought against social inequality and prejudice against lower classes. It was his legal acumen that gave us one of the best Constitutions in the world.” Further, MP Chaudhary emphasized, “we should also take inspiration from Babasaheb and fight against social evils such as casteism, social stratification, women subjugation.” He stressed upon reading his writings and books, particularly the Annihilation of Caste. 

 

 Afterwards, MP Chaudhary as chief guest, graced over the prize distribution function of a football tournament dedicated to Dr Ambedkar in Surya Enclave, Jalandhar.  To refurbish sports spirit, Mr. Chaudhary announced the grant of Rs three lakhs for the construction of a gymnasium for the benefit of people living in the area. Further, in the Kohinoor Enclave, he directed the Mayor to expedite the development works including volleyball court, walking spaces and open gymnasium in Dr Ambedkar Park. Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kaur, President, Mahila Congree (City) and Councillor Jasleen Sethi, Councillor Mandeep Jassal, Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Nirmal Singh and Rahul Grover were also present on the aforementioned occasions.
