Khalsa Hockey Academy's Five Players Selected For National Camp

AMRITSAR: Five women hockey players from Khalsa Hockey Academy under the aegis of Khalsa College Charitable Society have been selected for the national camp to be held at Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) next month. In total, 28 women hockey players were selected from all over the country for the camp in which five are from this local academy.

 

KCGC Honorary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina hailed the performance of the girl athletes and said that it is a matter of great pride and honor that 5 outstanding players from our academy have been selected by Hockey India for India camp and will represent our country in the forthcoming International Hockey tournaments.

 

The players selected for the camp include Simran Chopra, Prabhleen Kaur, Gagandeep Kaur, Reet and Priyanka informed Khalsa University Vice Chancellor Dr. GS Walia who congratulated the students for their entry into the national Hockey training camp. He added that the KCGC management had taken a far sighted decision of establishing this academy to promote the national game of Hockey in Punjab and Northern India.

 

Director Sports, Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh said that he was hopeful that the players would continue to perform well and would represent the country in the international upcoming events. He added that the academy will flourish and its players are eyeing to represent India in the next 2020 Olympic Games. He also extended words of appreciation for the Chief Coach Baldev Singh, Dhronacharya Awardee and Assistant Coach Amarjit for their hard work and dedication which has led the team to new heights.

 

Recently the girls of  Khalsa Hockey team won accolades at the prestigious Nehru Cup (Delhi), Youth Olympics (Netherlands), U-18 Asian Games (Thailand), U-13 Six Nations Tournament Belgium, Spain, Test matches in Australia and Khelo India Games.
