Government Departments join PSPCL in felicitation of farmers for conserving ground water

SHAHSKOT: The  Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, under its  campaign on “Conserving Precious Ground Water” (Paani Bachao Paisa Kamao), organized its sixth farmer camp with support from World Bank, TERI and PAU at Gurudwara Shahidan in Mullewal Khera village, Malsian on Friday . In the camp, the experts provided information to farmers on several farming measures to augment ground water. Farmers were also informed about the government schemes to assist farmers to conserve ground water. The Punjab Government will be providing these schemes to the enrolled farmers on a priority basis.

The eminent speakers at the camp included, Dr. Rajan Aggarwal, Soil and Water Engineering Department, Punjab Agriculture University, Dr. Jasvir Singh, Agriculture Development Officer, , Shahkot and Dr. Manpreet Singh,Block Technology Officer, ATMA Scheme, Shakot, Kamalpreet Singh ,Sub divisional officer, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Shakot, and Mr. Jasvir Singh,Inspector, Horticulture Department, Shahkot).

“PaniBachao Paisa Kamao” is a Direct Benefit Transfer to Electricity scheme, under which enrolled farmers receive monetary incentive for saving each unit of water and electricity. On this occasion  Gurpreet Singh Purewel, Additional Superintending Engineer, Nakodar City Division, PSPCL and r. Darshan Singh Gill Sub-division officer, Nakodar City Division, PSPCL felicitated five of the enrolled farmers from Nawajipur feeder,  Jagir Singh, Dalbir Singh, Jagdev Singh, Tarseem Singh, Davinder Singh and Sher Singh, for their efforts in saving water. Amongst the felicitated farmers Jagdev singh (Mullewal Bhramna Village) has received highest subsidy amount ofRs 10,000/followed by Dalbir Singh (Khanpur Rajputtana Village Rs6,000/- and Jagir Singh (Mullewal Bhramna Village Rs7485/
