JALANDHAR: Catering to the industrial needs of adopting smart electronic features and gadgets to enhance sale and popularity of their products, the Automobile Engineering (AUE) sixth semester students of CT Group of Institutions have developed a bike called Sprinter E-Moto which is an attempt in this direction. This prototype version is a concept vehicle in which electric mode of power generation is used over the conventional method of propulsion i.e. fossil fuel.

The students namely Harsimran Singh, Inderpal Singh, Nirmal Singh, Gagandeep Saroy, Harman Singh, Lovedeep Singh and Parminder Singh have made this bike under the guidance of HOD Er. Munish Digra and Project In-Charge Jaspal Basra.

Telling about the project, one of the students named Harsimran Singh said, “This bike has lightweight steel tubes welded to make a space frame.   An electric motor, controller unit and throttle along with wiring harness are the key components required to propel the bike. A set of light alloy wheels are used to bring down the overall weight. A chain and sprocket set transmits the power from motor to rear wheel. The motor receives DC power from set of four lead acid batteries connected in series. The entire cost of the project remained Rs. 30,000”

Principal Er. Sansar Chand further enlightened and said, “Once fully charged, the bike can cover distance of 60 km at the cost of 10 Rs. per charge. The bike needs very low maintenance, suitable for city congestion, moreover noiseless operation and emits no fuel emission. The project has remained quite useful for the students as far as their practical knowledge is concerned.”

Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the department by giving practical exposure to them along with classroom learning.
