International Women’s Day celebrated at MRSPTU Bathinda

BATHINDA: The International Women’s Day 2019 was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) Bathinda here today. More than 200 faculty, Staff and students participated.

     

Manila Chugh, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority Bathinda was Chief Guest. While Lida Singh Ishar, the first lady of MRSPTU was the Honored Guest and Prof. Savina Bansal, Dean Academic affairs of MRSPTU and Campus Director,  GZSCCET presided over the function.

       

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Manila Chugh stated that International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every yearacross the world with great zeal and passion with a purpose to create an equitable society, increase awareness about women’s rights and to address their social issues.  She apprised the audience about the legal rights for empowering women and encouraged all women to work fearlessly in the society.

     

Prof. Savina Bansal gave a Clarian call to all women to make their presence felt with ethical means in the area they are working. She stressed upon the need of developing scientific temperament among women through “Saamaan Adhikar, Saamaan Vyavhar, and Saamaan Sanskar’ so that equality in society can be ensured.

        

While appreciating the role of GZSCCET, MRSPTU in imparting awareness about women rights, Mrs. Lida Singh Ishar said there were millions of women around the world who were either speechless or struggling hard to secure their rights. “The discrimination and inequality is prominent, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries. Empowerment of women through all round education is most important,”.  A balance cannot be maintained in a society which inflict violence or discriminate against half of the population of the world, She said.

      

An Audio-Video documentary highlighting the contributions of women in the various areas including Politics, Sports, Social service, Defence were presented.   One act play prepared by Girl students of M.Sc.  Chemistry was enacted on the theme of Girl Education.

     

Gagandeep Kaur of M.Tech,  ECE recited the poem on the relevance of the occasion and  Chayanik Deb of M.Sc. Food Science and Jasvir Kaur of MCA enthralled the audience with songs dedicated to womanhood.

       

On the occasion recognizing the achievements of Jaspal Kaur, Library attendant, GZSCCET who brought up her three daughters single handedly under challenging circumstances was given an Award of Appreciation.  Similarly Ms Mona Rani student of MBA was also honored on the occasion, who is continuing her studies under daunting circumstances.

   

Speaking on the occasion Dr. R. K. Bansal, Dean Student Welfare,  MRSPTU highlighted the contributions made by the University for women Empowerment in the society.
