Jalandhar (Rural) arrested two narcotic smugglers from high-tech Naka, Phillaur and seized 1 kg of heroin

JALANDHAR: On the directions issued by Naunihal Singh, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jalandhar Range, Jalandhar, Navjot Singh Mahal, PPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural) and on the guidelines issued by Rajveer Singh, PPS, SP/Investigation, Amandeep Singh Brar, PPS, DSP/Investigation, Davinder Attri, PPS, DSP/Sub-Division Phillaur, a special drive has been launched against narcotic smugglers and anti social elements.  The Jalandhar police received a major success when Inspr. Prem Singh, SHO PS Phillaur, Jalandhar (Rural) alongwith police party arrested 02 narcotic smuggler, who is resident of Delhi and recovered 01 KG of heroin from him.

While addressing the press conference, Navjot Singh Mahal, PPS, SSP/Jalandhar (Rural) intimated that on 13-03-2019, while ASI Ravinder Singh of PS Phillaur, Jalandhar (Rural) alongwith police party laid a high-tech at Sutlej Bridge, he received a secret information that one Meeraz Rehmani s/o Abdul Sitar r/o Uttam Nagar, New Delhi, who is a resident of Delhi is a heroin smuggler and today also he is travelling from Delhi to Jalandhar on a bus and is going to deliver a consignment of heroin.  In this regard case FIR No. 77 dated 13-03-2019 u/s 21 NDPS Act was registered in PS Phillaur, district Jalandhar (Rural).  Inspr. Prem Singh, SHO PS Phillaur alongwith police party also reached the spot and started conducting thorough search of the vehicles.  During the course of checking, one person boarded off from the bus and started walking towards Ludhiana side.  On suspicion, the police apprehended him and asked about  his identity, who revealed his identity as Meeraz Rehmani @ Meeraz s/o Abdul Sitar r/o Uttam Nagar, New Delhi.  Davinder Kumar Attri, PPS, DSP/Phillaur also reached at the spot and in his presence Inspr. Prem Singh, SHO PS Phillaur conducted checking of the kit bag of Meeraz Rehmani which led to recovery of 01 KG of heroin wrapped in a plastic bag.   During the course of investigation one Nigerian namely Ani Chief Obinna r/o House No. 3, Mind Land Lene, Delhi has also been arrested.  The police remand of the arrested accused shall be sought  and a thorough probe into the matter is being conducted.

During the preliminary investigation, the arrested person namely Meeraz Rehmani @ Meeraz (Aged about s/o Abdul Sitar r/o Uttam Nagar, New Delhi revealed that he is 10th Class pass and is a plumber by profession.  About 03 years ago, he fell into the business of smuggling of heroin.  About 02 months ago he supplied a consignment of 350 GM of heroin in the area of Maqsudan to some unknown person in lieu of which one Kala Afghani of Delhi gave him Rs. 15,000/-.  He had to deliver the present consignment of 01 KG of heroin at Jalandhar and for this he would be paid high than last time.  On reaching Jalandhar, Kala Afghani would tell him through mobile phone that to whom the consignment of heroin had to be delivered.  He further disclosed that he do not know whereabouts of Kala Afghani.
