DC lauds initiative of the NRI for the noble cause

JALANDHAR: Acknowledging the stupendous efforts being made by district administration for the welfare of the abandoned girl, a NRI hailing from the Kalyanpur village has decided to donate Rs 10 lakh for Shelter Home for Abandoned girls in the Gandhi Vaneeta Ashram in the city, through the District Relief Society.

The NRI Rachpal Singh Atwal currently settled at England today called on the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and evinced keen interest in contributing for the well being of the abandoned girl child. Atwal, who was motivated by Sub Divisional Magistrate Paramvir Singh for this noble cause, said that he wanted to really help these girls in distress so as to ensure that secure and golden future of the abandoned girls could be ensured. A driving Instructor in England, Atwal had migrated there in year 1966.

Atwal said that rather than making contribution in any religious place, he has opted to donate for this noble cause. He also lauded the stupendous efforts being made by the district administration for ensuring the well being of girl child.

Meanwhile, welcoming the initiative of Chatwal, the Deputy Commissioner said that NRIs had always played an important role in the socio-economic development of the state besides ensuring the well being of the people. He said that this was a huge contribution which would enable the district administration to ensure holistic personality development of the children living in the shelter home. Sharma also asked the Sub Divisional Magistrate to chalk out a detailed plan for ensuring optimum utilization of every single penny donated by Atwal.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there were many fields in which active support of the NRIs could transform the destiny of residents of their motherland. He said that such endeavors were the need of the hour as government intervention could not achieve the desired results until and unless it was fully supported by the masses especially the NRIs. Sharma said that the NRIs of the village really deserve kudos for doing a great service of humanity by preserving the water and checking the environmental pollution by ensuring unprecedented cleanliness in the village.
