Stick to deadline of March 31 to complete work at PAP flyover: DC tells company

 JALANDHAR: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma has directed the company executing the work on PAP Chowk flyover to adhere to the deadline of completing the work on the ambitious project by March 31.

The Deputy Commissioner, who reviewed the ongoing work on the project, said that any sort of inordinate delay regarding the fixed deadline was totally unwarranted and undesirable. He said that any such move would not be tolerated at any cost as the people have to face a lot of inconvenience due to the incomplete project. Sharma said that district administration has already ensured fulsome support and cooperation to the company for the project and now its the turn of the company to fulfill its commitment.

The Deputy Commissioner said that completing the work by March 31 was top priority of the district administration and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. He asked the company officers to ensure that the project was conducted in a time bound manner without any sort of inconvenience to the general public. Sharma said that once the flyover at PAP chowk was operational, the traffic bottleneck created at PAP chowk would be over.

The Deputy Commissioner said that around 70-80% of traffic currently at PAP chowk would use the flyover to go to Amritsar or Jammu whereas the remaining traffic would go inside the city. He said that this would ensure a major relief to people who were facing lot of problem due to heavy flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, the staff at the site of the work informed the Deputy Commissioner that more than 95% work on the project has already been completed. They said that as per the directions of the Deputy Commissioner they had already pumped in all their resources to ensure that work was completed at the earliest.
