Chandigarh University Gharuan and Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar gets second and third position respectively

Harpinder Kaur gets best player award

 JALANDHAR: Sant Baba Bagh Singh University and Punjabi university Patiala jointly won third inter-university women’s Gatka Championship which concluded here today at Sant Baba Bagh Singh University (SBBSU) Khyala, Jalandhar. The Championship held under the dynamic leadership of Chancellor Sant Baba Dilawar Singh (Brahm ji) and Vice-Chancellor Dr. J.S. Bal.

 

In this tournament, Chandigarh University Gharuan and Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Amritsar got second and third place respectively. Harpinder Kaur of Punjabi University Patiala (PUP) was declared as the best player of the tournament.

 

On the second day of the two-day’s Gatka (women) championship, Assistant Director of Punjab Sports Department, Kartar Singh Sehmbi distributed prizes to the winning teams in the presence of university Chancellor Sant Baba Dilawar Singh, President of National Gatka Association of India and AIU observor Harjeet Singh Grewal and universiSports Director of the University Dr. Pritam Singh.

 

The results of the inter-university championship are as follows:

 

In a single stick (team event) SBBS niversity came first, Pbi Uni and GNDU got second and third position respectively. Similarly, in a single stick (individual) competition, Chandigarh University (CU) Gharuan came first, SBBS niversity and Lovely Professional University (LPU) Jalandhar got second and third position respectively.

 

In a single stick (full strike) team event, Pbi Uni got first position, SBBS University and CU Gharuan got second and third position respectively. In a single Stick (full strike) individual competition, CU Gharuan got first position, SBBS University and Pbi Uni Patiala attained second and third position respectively.

 

Similarly, in a fari- stick (team event), GNDU came first, SBBS University and Guru Kashi University (GKU) Talwandi Sabo got second and third position respectively. In the fari-Stick (individual) competition, Pbi Uni got first position, SBBS University attained second and GNDU got third place.

 

In the fari-Stick (full strike) team event competition, Pbi Uni came first, SBBS University and CU Gharuan got second and third position respectively. Meanwhile, Pbi Uni bagged first position in fari-stick (full strike) individual competition, SBBS University and LPU Jalandhar got second and third position respectively.

Among others present during the tournament included General Secretary of Haryana Gatka Association Sukhchain Singh Kalasani, Finance Secretary of National Gatka Association of India Baljit Singh, Avtar Singh Patiala of Gatka Association Punjab, Gurpreet Singh Raja of International Sikh Marshal Academy, Yograj Singh Mohali, Sachnam Singh Hoshiarpur, Gatka coach Vijay Pratap Singh,  Pritpal Singh and Paramjit Singh administrative members were also present.
