DCP bans carrying of firearms

JALANDHAR: In order to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in Jalandhar, the deputy commissioner of Police (DCP) Parambir Singh Parmar has banned the carrying of firearms by licence holders.

Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Deputy Commissioner of Police said that carrying of weapons in the city has been prohibited in the jurisdiction of commissionerate police.

The orders will not apply to personnel of the army, paramilitary forces, police officials/employees and others who have been given permission by the competent authority.
The orders would remain in force by May 27, 2019.
