DC and CP finalise arrangements at DAC for smooth nomination process

Only five persons including candidate to be allowed for entering court room of dc for filing papers

 JALANDHAR: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today finalized the arrangements at the District Administrative Complex to ensure smooth nomination process for ensuing Lok Sabha polls to start from April 22 (Monday).

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that major thrust would be laid to enforce Model Code of Conduct zealously. They said that as per the stipulated norms laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI) only five persons including the candidate would be allowed to enter at the place where the nominations for the polls would be filed by candidates from April 22 to 29. Both the officers said that elaborate arrangements would be made to ensure that the nomination process was held in a smooth, free and fair manner.

 

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that nominations for the polls would be received by the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer only in his court from 11 am to 3 pm. They said that in the absence of Deputy Commissioner nominations would be received by Sub Divisional Magistrate Jalandhar II Paramveer Singh. Both the officers further said that the entire process of nominations would be videographed to ensure complete transparency. The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police also constituted the teams of the civil and Police officers to look into the necessary arrangements for ensuring that the process of nomination could be completed smoothly.

 

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police PBS Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Gupta, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sanjeev Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police BIS Kahlon and others were also present.
