Two NRI’s including a woman among five booked for assaulting NRI

NAKODAR: The Nakodar city police have booked five persons including two NRI’s on the charges of assaulting an NRI.

Investigating officer Satpal said that the accused have been identified as Lakhbir Kaur a Spain based NRI and a native of Mahunwal village ,her brother and England based NRI Major Singh ,Vinay Kumar a resident of Kaduwal village in Kapurthala,Akashaydeep and Lovepreet Singh residents of Talwandi Mehma village in Kapurthala.

Tarlok Singh a Spain based NRI and native of Nihal Garh village in Phagwara tehsil ,Kapurthala complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he has constrained relations with his wife Lakhbir Kaur and living separate from her since 2009.

He said that his wife and other members of in-law’s family   have been asking him to transfer his property to Jasbir Singh ,his son but property is still owned his father Resham Singh.

He said that he came to India in May 2018 and his wife Lakhbir Kaur also came to India as his father-in-law expired in June 2018.

Tarlok Singh said that Lakhbir Kaur telephoned him to reach Mahunwal village on July 7,2018 where he was pressurized to transfer his property to his son but he did not agreed and Lakhbir Kaur suddenly asked him to go. He said that Lakhbir Kaur accompanied him to gate and he saw three youths on two motorcycles roaming in street.

He said that when he came about 1 kilometer away from village same motor cycle borne youths  waylaid him and attacked him with weapons adding that his wife and his brother in-law were behind this attack .

Deputy superintended of police(investigation) inquired complaint and recommended registration of a case and SSP ordered the same.

IO said that a case under section 341(wrongful restraint ) and 506(criminal intimidation) has been registered against the accused and further investigation is on.
