The Shahkot police have arrested a resident of Shahkot on charges of fraud and criminal conspiracy.
Investigating Officer (IO) Sukhwindar Pal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Sanjiv Kumar, son of Kewal Krishan of Rishi Nagar, Shahkot. England-based NRI Narindar Singh Jheeta, a resident of Shahkot, had complained to the senior superintendent officer of police Jalandhar (rural) that the accused and his accomplices had hatched a conspiracy and prepared a fake agreement to usurp 12.3 Marla’s of land of his late father Ajit Singh situated in Mohalla Bawavian and under Lal Lakir and committed an act of fraud.IO said that a case under sections 420(cheating),465,467,468,471(fraud), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), and 193(false evidence in a judicial proceeding and the fabrication of false evidence for use in a judicial proceeding) of the Indian Penal Code and section 82 of the Registration Act 1908 was registered against the accused. Three accused were arrested earlier in this case.
