The Shahkot police have booked five members of a family including three women on the charge of kidnapping a minor.
Investigating Officer (IO) Jagdev Singh said that the accused have been identified as Meji son of Sohan Singh a resident of Talwandi Madho village; his wife Sita, son Javi, daughters Sharandeep and Rajji.
Mother of the victim complained to the police that the accused conspired and kidnapped his minor daughter on the pretext of marriage on May 17 night.
IO said that a case under sections 137(2) (kidnapping) and 87(kidnapping in order to murder or for ransom)and 61(2)( criminal conspiracy) of the BNS has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is on.
